Itahari. Industrialist Mr. Vishnu Kumar Agarwal has been honored with the ‘Koshi Excellence Award 2026’ in the automobile category, presented by the Nayan Media Foundation.

The award was presented to Mr. Agarwal by the Chief Guest, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki, during a ceremony held on Saturday at Hotel Soaltee Westend in Itahari, Sunsari.

Born in 1971 (2028 B.S.), Mr. Agarwal has established himself as a leading entrepreneur in Nepal’s automobile sector, citing honesty, continuous hard work, and efficiency as the core mantras of his success. The son of Shanti Devi Agarwal and the late Prahlad Rai Agarwal, he began his business journey in Biratnagar.

Key Contributions and Leadership

Currently serving as the Chairman and Managing Director of the MAW Group, Mr. Agarwal has led the organization to become a premier automobile conglomerate in Nepal. His notable achievements include:

• International Brand Expansion: Successfully introduced international brands such as Skoda, Changan, and JCB to the Nepali market.
• Green Energy Initiative: Played a significant role in promoting electric vehicles (EVs) through a “Green Energy” campaign, bringing brands like Deepal, Seres, Foton, Sokon, and Dongfeng to Nepal.
• Infrastructure Development: Mr. Agarwal facilitated the establishment of over 100 charging stations and more than 10 service centers nationwide to support the EV ecosystem.
• Industrial Leadership: As the President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) from 2021–2023, he spearheaded the “Make in Nepal – Swadeshi” campaign to promote domestic production and job creation. He also played a vital role in policy reform and stabilizing interest rates during the post-COVID-19 economic crisis.

Recognition and Diplomatic Service

Mr. Agarwal has served as the Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic since 2010 and received the Best Consul Award in 2019. In 2022, he was decorated with the Suprabal Janasewa Shree medal by then-President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Pawan Adhikari, Chairperson of the organizing foundation, stated that the award was conferred upon Mr. Agarwal in recognition of his long-term contribution to promoting green energy, developing infrastructure, and building a self-reliant economy through the automobile sector.
